TAF Africa Foundation held its maiden TAF ICON award ceremony on 3rd May, 2019 at the Ebunjan Theater. The TAF ICON is one of seven initiatives under the foundation which celebrates an exceptional Gambian for the work they do in the country in advancing meaningful socio-economic growth through community development engagements. This event emerged as a result of the need to acknowledge and celebrate Gambians impacting the lives of people in different aspects of development.

In light of that, the first TAF ICON awardee was Janet Badjan Young, a retired United Nation staff who is the proprietress and Director of the Ebunjan Theater. Mrs Badjan Young was celebrated in style with the goal of informing the general citizenry about the achievements of this ICON, and to serve as an inspiration to the younger generation to emulate the philanthropic work of Gambians advancing meaningful development. The award ceremony was graced by United Nations officials, Ambassadors, government representatives, religious leaders, NGOs, youths and students to celebrate this auspicious occasion.

We were entertained by the Ebunjan Theatre troupe with an amazing dance performance and later had a cocktail and network session after the official award ceremony.

We congratulate Janet Badjan Young for this achievement and once again thank everyone who graced the event.
